Privacy Policy

navalestimates.com is the official website for Naval Estimates: The Dreadnought Age. This page explains what little data the site handles, why, and the choices you have. For anything not answered here, write to contact@navalestimates.com.

The short version

• The site has no accounts, forms, or newsletters, and collects nothing by default.
• Google Analytics and Plausible run only if you accept them via the cookie bar, and you can withdraw that choice at any time.
• We never sell data or use it for advertising.

Analytics - only with your consent

If you choose Accept in the cookie bar, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and what devices and browsers they use. We use this solely to improve the site and gauge interest in the game. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), and nothing is loaded before you give it.

Analytics data is processed for us by Google LLC, which may process it on servers outside the EEA under Google's standard safeguards for international transfers. See Google's privacy policy for how Google handles data. Google Analytics retains the event data it collects for us for no longer than 14 months.

We also load Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service. Plausible is cookieless, sets no persistent identifiers, and collects no personal data - it measures aggregate page views and referrers only, and is hosted in the EU. It needs no consent under the GDPR, but we gate it behind the same cookie bar as Google Analytics, so it too loads only if you accept. See Plausible's data policy.

To withdraw consent, open Cookie Settings in the footer and choose Decline. This stops analytics immediately and removes Google Analytics' cookies; Plausible sets none, and existing analytics data cannot be traced back to you by us.

Cookies and local storage

• analytics-consent (browser local storage) - remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so the bar doesn't reappear on every visit. Kept until you clear your browser data or change your choice.
• _ga and _ga_* (cookies) - set by Google Analytics only after you accept, to distinguish visitors. They persist for up to two years unless you decline or clear them.

Plausible is cookieless and sets nothing. No other cookies are set by this site.

Hosting

The site is served by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify may briefly process your IP address in server logs as a technical necessity of delivering pages and protecting against abuse; we do not use these logs to identify visitors.

Contacting us

If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you include in your message. We use them only to reply, keep them only as long as the conversation warrants, and don't add you to any lists.

Links to other services

The site links to our Discord server and our X (Twitter) account. Those platforms have their own privacy policies, which apply once you're there.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or erasure of personal data concerning you, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. You can also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact contact@navalestimates.com.

Changes to this policy

If the site's data practices change - for example, if a game download or newsletter is added - this page will be updated and the effective date above revised.
